SET LIST

Simply a brief incomplete list of the sets I have. Lego's sadly in the attic at the moment so this was done from memory. Hopefully I can get it down at some point and get proper pictures rather than second-hand instruction scans.

1979-0675
1980-6364
1980-6648
1981-6611
0675 Snack Bar (1979): Always liked the simplicity of this one. The little sign, sadly, didn't make it. 6364 - Paramedic Unit (1980): Very cute little doctors' surgery. Never sure about the odd-looking car, which I leave unbuilt in favour of 6629 or 6523. 6648 - Dump Truck (1980): Simple but effective construction vehicle never quite surpassed by later updates. 6611 - Fire Chief's Car (1981): If there's been a greater idea than a fire chief having a personal go-cart I've yet to hear it.
1981-6629
1982-4005
1982-4015
1982-6362
6629 - Ambulance (1981): Not really an ambulance, but instead a nice straightforward medical car.
4005 - Tug Boat (1982): Possibly the best of the Ships sister line - different, cute, well-built.
4015 - Freighter (1982): Overshadowed by its' massive 1987 successor, but still a very nice little kit.
6362 - Post Office (1982): Great little set, much better than the smaller, later 6689.
1982-6651
1982-6653
1983-6371
1983-6384
6651 - Mail Truck (1982): My first-ever Lego kit, and still one of my favourites thanks to the neat design and classy colour scheme. I have a fleet of the things now. Well, three.
6653 - Highway Maintenance Truck (1982): Compact 4x4 let down by open back.
6371 - Service Station (1983): Very nice retro petrol station with crucial Shell branding - not to mention a lovely little tow truck and a 'standard' blue car.
6384 - Police Station (1984): Great building (love that sliding garage door) with some nice vehicles, though the helicopter was always boring to build and clumsy looking compared with late-1980s models.
1983-6609
1983-6624
1983-6683
1983-6692
6609 - Race Car (1983): Very simple go-cart. I do like the weird pattern on the front.
6624 - Delivery Van (1983): Very neat little van, one of my favourites though I've no idea why.
6683 - Hamburger Stand (1983): Nice simple little shop set despite complete lack of hamburgers in Lego line to date.
6692 - Tractor Trailer (1983): Iconic early kit, and one of the line's first dabbles with postmodernism - it delivers Lego!
1983-6695
1984-6366
1984-6605
1984-6622
6695 - Tanker Truck (1983): Another early classic that's stood the test of time well.
6366 Fire & Rescue Squad (1984): Very good set featuring two top-quality fire tenders and a red bike (that never gets used by a fireman).
6605 - Road Racer: Inexplicably loveable update of 6609 along the lines of 6611.
6622 - Mailman on Motorcycle (1984): The Jesus of Cool.
1984-6655
1984-6684
1985-6368
1985-6392
6655 - Auto & Tire Repair (1984): Great no-frills combination of car, mechanic and preposterously cool tyre balancer.
6684 - Police Patrol Squad (6684): Very nicely designed police van with striking colour scheme.
6368 - Jet Airliner (1985): Neat if unspectacular plane; seats a whopping three people.
6392 - Airport (1985): Nice set made by the solid, stylish control tower and typical good detail (the luggage conveyor!).
1985-6480
1985-6603
1985-6604
1985-6631
6480 - Light & Sound Hook and Ladder Truck (1985): Typical Light & Sound set, sadly - big 9V box with an unimaginative, boring vehicle slapped around it.
6603 - Shovel Truck (1985): Very nice small digger.
6604 - Formula-I Racer: Interestingly built early race car; simple parts means making multiples in different colours is nice and easy.
6631 - Steam Shovel (1985): Very neatly done small construction vehicle.
1985-6633
1985-6656
1985-6682
1985-6688
6633 - Family Car (1985): Mild update of the 10 x 4 car. Good luck fitting a family in it.
6656 - Tow Truck (1985): Workmanlike design that does what it's meant to, though I never liked the blue for some reason.
6682 - Cement Mixer (1985): Nice construction on the mixing bowl, but let down by the odd colour scheme.
6688 - Ambulance (1985): Great boxy 1980s design. I've always liked the sloped underside of the cab too.
1985-6689
1985-6697
1985-7715
1986-6361
6689 - Post Station (1985): Simple but effective in its' own right, but a poor cousin of the majestic 6362.
6697 - Rescue-I Helicopter (1985): By far the best of the early helicopter designs with a decent winch system to boot.
7715 - Push Along Train (1985): Nice retro-styled train I've always had a big soft spot for.
6361 - Mobile Crane (1986): Never wildly fond of this one despite an interesting design and some good construction.
1986-6612
1986-6613
1986-6634
1986-6658
6612 - Fire Chief's Car (1986): Not quite as much fun as 6612, but an interesting jeep-type build.
6613 - Telephone Booth (1986): From the days when a couple of seats a phone and a chap with a bicycle was enough for a legit set.
6634 - Stock Car (1986): Racing variation of the early-1980s standard car.
6658 - Bulldozer (1986): Actually a digger and a ugly, OTT one at that.
1986-6676
1986-6677
1987-4020
1987-6380
6676 - Mobile Command Unit (1986): Very interesting expansion of the basic police van idea with a neat interior and very cool barriers.
6677 - Motocross Racing (1986): Nice 4 x 4 and trailer combo, one of the few really nice off-road vehicles Town managed
4020 - Fire Fighter (1987): Mediocre emergency boat - I can't remember the last time I built this up instead of using the hull on a MOC.
6380 - Emergency Treatment Centre (1987): A very nicely constructed hospital full of nice details and rounded out with a tidy ambulance.
1987-6381
1987-6501
1987-6502
1987-6521
6381 - Motor Speedway (6381): Passable race track set blown away by the definitive 6395.
6501 - Sport Convertible (1987): Nice, simple 7 x 4 car - easy to build in multiple colours too. But not a convertible =(
6502 - Turbo Racer (1987): Charmless dune buggy.
6521 - Emergency Repair Truck (1987): Solid well-designed roadside assistance vehicle - check the logo continuity with 6653 - nice.
1987-6523
1987-6641
1987-6687
1987-6699
6523 - Red Cross (1987): Sweet little variation on the 7 x 4 standard car, and one of the last Town hospital sets.
6641 - 4-Wheelin' Truck (1987): Mediocre bigfoot I nearly always rebuild as a mediocre pick-up.
6687 - Turbo Prop I (1987): Very nicely done twin-engined light aircraft.
6699 - Cycle Fix-It Shop (1987): Simple basic shop brightened up by some nice touches.
1988-1612
1988-6357
1988-6395
1988-6503
1612 - Race Car and Driver (1988): Nice little Grand Prix car mailaway.
6357 - Stunt 'Copter n' Truck (1988): Awful name, but a great truck and nice helicopter in a very cool matching colour scheme.
6395 - Victory Lap Raceway (1988): Maybe, just maybe my favourite set of all time - four cars, Shell support truck, full light set, camera on tracking rail... Mmmm.
6503 - Sprint Racer (1988): Lovely little Grand Prix car elevated to greatness by - yes - Shell branding.
1988-6504
6504 - Tractor (1988): - Bizarre blue update of 6603. Alright, but why?
1988-6590
6590 - Vacation Camper (1988): Unashamedly unexciting set - very cramped caravan too.
1988-6642
6642 - Police Helicopter (1988): Swish, stylish design.
1988-6675
6675 - Road & Trail 4 x 4 (1988): The best of the big foots thanks to a smart colour scheme - which fits beautifully with 6357.
1989-1898
1898 - Dragster: Cheap and tacky Weetabix freebie. I've got two - neither are built up.
1989-6506
6506 - Precinct Cruiser (1989): Workable police version of 6501.
1989-6507
6507 - Mini Dumper (1989): Fun little thing - I do like the inverted tyres.
1989-6526
6526 - Red Line Racer (1989): Rubbish dragster, only good for parts.
1989-6528
6528 - Sand Storm Racer (1989): Briefly diverting for working suspension, but not for long.
1989-6661
6661 - Mobile TV Studio (1989): Great little set - basic van design is nice, and it fills a neglected niche in Town too.
1990-1665
1665 - Dual FX Racers (1990): Odd set with six stud wide cars. Looked much more realistic, but fitted in with bugger all at the time.
1990-6375
6375 - Trans Air Carrier (1990): Super little cargo plane that fits nicely with the much earlier 6624.
1990-6508
6508 - Wave Racer (1990): Well-made racing speedboat; again, easy to make in alternate colours.
1990-6644
6644 - Road Rebel (1990): Great update of 6677, elevated by the inclusion of a great little sportscar design.
1990-6673
6673 - Solo Trainer (1990): Not quite as fantastic as 6687, but nevertheless a very fine light plane kit.
1991-6353
6353 - Coastal Cutter (1991): Nice Coast Guard boat from the early 1990s harbour sub-theme, though I usually leave off the cumbersome winch for the speedboat.
1991-6440
6440 - Jetport Fire Squad (1991): By far the best Light & Sound set thanks to the six-stud construction hiding the 9V box properly. Great features and some very nice Minifigs.
1991-6509
6509 - Red Racer (1991): Very cool variation on the standard 7 x 4 racing car.

1991-6510
6510 - Mud Runner (1991): Another horrible little thing with no redeeming features.

1991-6531
6531 - Flame Chaser: (1991): Nice tweak of the late 1980s/early 1990s helicopter with foam hoses.

1991-6532
6532 - Diesel Dumper (1991): Ugly thing, only worth it for parts.
1991-6540
6540 - Pier Police (1991): Swish little harbour-side police station rounded out by some tidy vehicles.
1991-6593
6593 - Blaze Battler (1991): Very nicely constructed fire tender with a nice range of features.
1991-6645
6645 - Street Sweeper (1991): Suitably ugly functional street sweeper.
1991-6679
6679 - Dark Shark (1991): Nicely built and effectively sinister speedboat - always doled out to the bad guys this one.
1992-1461
1461 - Turbo Force (1992): Grandoise name for a nice enough simple go-cart. Always loved the colour continuation from one of the cars from 6395.
1992-4554
4554 - Metro Station (1992): Majestic train station. Really lovely design work and absolutely packed with cute details.
1992-6346
6346 - Launching Crew (1992): Nice Space Shuttle with some fun support vehicles - a good source of motorcycles.
1992-6397
6397 - Gas N' Wash Express (1992): Despite some nice design (including a great car wash) that never quite gelled with me - Shell fanboy, I guess.
1992-6512
6512 - Landscape Loader (1992): Weird little digger with odd semi-enclosed cockpit.
1992-6530
6530 - Sport Coupe (1992): Surprisingly good update of the old car chassis.

1992-6551
6551 - Checkered Flag 500 (1992): Very bare race set. Two of the better-designed dune buggies, but that's not saying much.
1992-6594
6594 - Gas Transit (1992): Ugly cab design scuppers update of 6695.
1994-6350
6350 - Pizza to Go (1994): Surprisingly good late entry, complete with fittingly odd delivery van.
1997-6550
6550 - Outback Racer (1997): A rare hit from the end days of Town with a respectable rally car.
1997-6555
6555 - Sea Hunter (1997): Cool diving gear and a saw-nosed shark add up to a fun set.
