This cute little set is the sort of thing that Lego lost sight of come the 1990s and beyond. While police cars, fire engines and off-road racing are alright, so are nice sets that round out the Town nicely, especially if they're done well.

And this is one of the best of the small buildings they used to do. A cute little hamburger shop, with some nice bits inside and a lovely colour scheme. It might be a bit dull for some people's tastes, but I'm decidedly fond of the little thing. It looks great in town with a few people dotted around, and is probably the best of the handful of fast food outlets Lego have produced. The design of the proof is nice, as is the way there's an outside service window, but they've still bothered with a counter inside, which is a nice touch of realism.

Parts-wise, this one can be a pain to cobble together, largely because the blue door was only ever used on this set (aside from a German exclusive set), and because the stickers can be hard to find. For the former, I ended up paying about £4 for the part on Bricklink; a good alternative strategy is to get the part in a more common colour, and simply change all the blue parts to that colour. The Hamburger sticker adds to the whole thing, so it's worth tracking one down.

Considering its' age, there's not a lot of modifications to be made to this one. About all I've done to mine is place it on a bigger board and put a few more tables and seats outside, and also used a bigger variety of 1x1 dots as burgers and the like. Oh, and added in a newer cash register.

It's difficult to define what's so nice about this set. It's probably that in a range often crammed with out-there stuff, normally practical things come across as a divergence from the norm. It's a really nice little set, with some fun details, but can be rather expensive.
