Lego's Airport range covered a couple of Airports (which all came with a couple of aircraft), a jet liner, a couple of private planes, a couple of helicopters, a few microlights and this freight plane. It wasn't the most mined of themes, but on the other hand, this means most of the kits were crackers.

This is possibly my favourite, vying with the Turbo Prop. As well as the Post service, the occasional Delivery theme is one of my favourites. I have no real idea why, I just like this stuff - maybe because posties and delivery men are always giving me stuff I bought on the Internet? Anyway, this design is great. It has its' basic genesis in the 1985 passenger jet model. Superficially, the wing has been moved to a higher position, and there are a couple more engines, which gives it an air of the workhorse design that would be used for haulage. Best part, though, is the way the tail hinges away so you can load cargo - realistic, and good for play/dioramas! The little vehicles aren't the best. Both are a bit Spartan, though the forklift mechanism is nice. I personally just used it on a more beefed-up truck. Scrapped the little buggy, though.

The model is based on pre-existing jet parts, which is nice - only the decorated pieces (notably the tail) will take much effort to track down, though plane parts are never the absolute easiest to find. Best thing, though, is that aside from the wings/engine/tail, the rest of the parts can be found in a variety of colours, meaning you can have a couple for different companies.

The only changes I've made, aside from to the aforementioned vehicle revisions, is to put everyone in the uniform of the Delivery service there is in my town and rope together a bit more cargo. This thing's perfect as it is.

A great-looking model with a couple of nice features, this really is an essential, if slightly pricey, addition to any Lego Airport.
