Series 2 Reviews

1984 and 1985 saw the Gobots line in full swing. The most popular figures from the first series remained in production, while 29 new figures were added to the range. Some of these were straight repackaging jobs, but elsewhere Tonka were really putting their mark on the line. The second series saw a growing trend for new colour schemes, with eight figures receiving new paint jobs for the West (in addition to two recolours of Series 1 toys). The Devil Invader Series figures, being the same size as the Machine Robo Series figures, were also co-opted into the line. And finally, the second series saw the first Western-exclusive small Gobots, as Bandai designed five moulds for the line that didn't come out in Japan.
