in 2003, ten years after the failed CG
Robo, Machine Robo Rescue was a determined attempt by Bandai
to relaunch the Machine Robo franchise, with a cartoon (mixing
CGI and cel animation) commissioned from Sunrise Studios, and all-new
toys devised by Plex. The main focus of these were seven combining Hyper
Robo sets, each featuring a Leader Robo and four identical Support Robo.
It would seem the line wasn't a massive success - a year later, Bandai
would totally revise the central concept of Machine Robo for the
construction-themed Machine Robo Mugenbine. |
