SYNOPSIS

Grujios summons up a fog, disguises himself as a Jeep Robo and sneaks aboard the Battle Base. Later Rom and a patrol are trapped on a street by Ashura, a new Gyandlar Demon Soldier. They escape, though Skyline Robo is killed. Returning to Battle Base Rom wants to know how the Gyandlar knew of the secret mission. Kendo Robo points out that Helitanser knew of the mission but instead of coming along went off to investigate the Dragon Waterfall, where Diondra is searching for the Lion Shield. Helitanser vehemently denies the accusations and sets off to prove his innocence. Rom believes he is innocent but is convinced there is a spy in their camp. However, news reaches him of Helitanser setting off alone.

Most assume this means he is the traitor after all. Helitanser arrives at the waterfall and offers to help Diondra search. He left a message with Diamond Man asking Rom and the others to attack the waterfall in an hour's time. Battle Gyror is convinced it's a trap but Pro Truck Racer thinks it's genuine. Helitanser shows the Gyandlar the ruins behind the waterfall complete with an inscription mentioning the Lion Shield. She then betrays him and is about to kill him when Rom appears with a squad, surrounding the Gyandlar. Baikanfu and Ashura battle while Battle Gyror reveals himself to be possessed by Grujios - and thus the spy - pulling a gun on Pro Truck Racer and Leina. Doublejet guns him down, much to Leina's distress. Minmei then arrives in the real Battle Gyror, Grujios having created a duplicate body and imprisoned the real thing. Baikanfu and Doublejet accidentally uncovering the location of the Lion Shield behind the waterfall. Ashura briefly has the upper hand over Baikanfu before Jet and Helitranser remove his arms, allowing Baikanfu to kill him. In the confusion Diondra takes the Lion Shield, and she escapes on the Varigale-X with Grujios. Spirits are low until Rom points out that while they have lost the Lion Shield they have gained trust with each other.

NOTES

Ashura can fire a glue-like substance to restrain his enemies.

REVIEW

This one is very odd - a by-the-numbers cartoon traitor storyline (and one that the opening scene makes achingly obvious even if Grujios hadn't done basically the same thing last episode) is given centre stage while the actual discovery of the Lion Shield is just thrown in almost as an afterthought.

Nice to see some different faces again, though.
