ROCKGIRAN VERSUS ROCKDON
ORIGINAL AIRDATE: 27/11/1986
Diondra threatens to begin killing the village's children if they don't tell her how to awaken Rockdon. The chief relents, telling the Gyandlar that soundwaves have to be used. They begin the process but are interrupted by the arrival of Rom and the others. They battle the Gyandlar but are unable to prevent Diondra from awakening Rockdon. Kenryû unsuccessfully battles the monster before merging to form Baikanfu. The larger robot has no more luck but their struggle reveals a second buried creature, Rockgiran. Zeba sacrifices himself to release it. The two monsters battle until they both merge into a single ball and return to their rest. Diondra has disappeared by now and the villagers are free.
Falcon Robo doesn't seem to be any of the ones who have appeared before as he has to introduce himself. Zeba has a different model to the others featuring a rocklike beard and more aged face. There are also a load of baby Battle Rocks - they're quite creepy.
There are also randomly a Blackbird Robo and a Harrier Robo in with the Rock People villagers - military survivors, maybe?
Tribe Featured: Rom Stol, Leina Stol.
Jet Tribe Featured: Blue Jet, Falcon, Blackbird Robo (cameo), Harrier Robo (cameo).
Rock People Featured: Zeba, Battle Rock, Guts Rock, Mecha Rock, Rockdon, Rockgiran.
Gyandlar Featured: Diondra, Double Rock, Geiger Rock, Devil Rock, Gadess, Zarios, Casmodon, Baldas, Falgos, Gildas.
Anime Clichés: Jet cuts lots of people in half, obviously. Doesn't he ever stab or decapitate? If he was up against someone from Brave he'd be in trouble. The baby Boulders and Diondra whipping Leina are probably worth a mention too.
Errors: Leina's head disappears in the final shot before the next episode teaser.
Not quite as cheerfully daft as the last couple, though Diondra's change into a kinky mix of the Baroness and Megatron - with a crazy plan each week and lots of domination - has certainly made her less irritating. This one's full of really weird bits (there's no mention of Rockgiran until Baikanfu uncovers him) but it's still got some pep.
The scrap between Rockdon and Rockgiran - which should be an insane Toho homage - is a bit dull though.
