SYNOPSIS

The travellers arrive in the city of Gurian but find it deserted. They try to enter the city via a bridge which then collapses before they are attacked by the citizens. After a brief skirmish Ren, leader of Gurian, apologises for the attack, claiming they mistook the group for some reported villains. Then a young female named Sara arrives and warns that the city is cursed. They turn back - despite Drill being hungry and wanting his lunch. All of this is watched by the Gyandlar, who have used Lafu and Siman to hypnotise the city's residents. Garudi criticises the plan for being underhanded but is overruled by Gadess. Rom meanwhile attempts to sneak back into the city alone. There Sara, immune to Lafu's hypnotism, is captured and taken to Diondra. Rom finds out that everyone is under hypnosis when he tries to free some of the population only to have them aid the Gyandlar in his capture.

The others set off to Gurian to find Rom, who has been thrown in a cell with Sara. The others are ambushed by Diondra and disorientated by Siman but Leina is able to slip away and free Rom and Sara. Leina and Sara destroy Siman, freeing Jet, Drill and Jim from his influence. The townsfolk are also free and help attack the Gyandlar while Kenryû battles Diondra until Lafu joins the attack. Rom combines with Baikanfu as he fights Lafu's mind control power. He seems to be losing the struggle until Sara intervenes, giving Baikanfu an opening to destroy Lafu. Sara dies from her injuries and as the heroes leave the Gurian citizens build a statue of her.

NOTES

Gurian is known for its' literature. Ren is a Bulldozer Robo. His daughter Sara turns into a Scooter but looks nothing like a Scooter Robo. Sara is completely immune to Siman's powers; Rom's group all suffer disorientation apart from Leina. Jim actually takes out a couple of Geiger Rocks. GO JIM! Devil Rocks, Geiger Rocks and Double Rocks have all been added to the Gyandlar generic ranks.

Buggy Robo, Missile Tank Robo, a green Ambulance Robo, Porsche Robo, Truck Robo, Police Robo, Supercar Robo, DrillHeli (not Vilion), Off Road Robo, Jeep Robo, Buggy Robo, Falcon Robo, Blackbird Robo, Shuttle Robo, Apollo Robo, a Combat Buggy, Mixer Robo, Battle Robo and Bike Robo are all seen among the population of Gurian.

REVIEW

Once again the pretentious feel of the opening dozen or so episodes is junked in favour of a more Saturday morning feel, the surprising death of Sara aside.

The series is losing a bit of direction (what are Rom and company actually doing now?) but it's managed to become more fun.
