SYNOPSIS

Rom, Leina and Jim are following the Wolf Sword's directions near a ruined monastery, unaware they are being observed by Grujios and the fallen monk Preacher. The Gyandlar spring a trap but Jet and Drill stand ready to defend their friends, Rom having had a premonition of the situation. The Gyandlar are easily driven off when Preacher declines to intervene. Grujios angrily confronts him later but Preacher easily finishes off his remaining troops and sends him running scared. Rom is similarly spooked by the encounter, even admitting to his father's spirit that he is afraid of Preacher. Drill sets off to face Preacher alone but is no match for the evil monk's powers. His life is spared when Preacher is disturbed by the ringing of the bell at the old monastery.

Jet wants to set out and get revenge immediately but Rom wants them to bide their time. Jet accuses him of cowardice and storms off alone. Preacher meanwhile has destroyed the bell in the monastery and begins ransacking the graveyard. Jim challenges him but is damaged. Rom realises he has to face his fear and sets off to battle Preacher. He realises Preacher's form is just an illusion and tackles the Gyandlar underneath with Kenryû. Preacher still has plenty of tricks left though, even countering when Rom forms Baikanfu. Jet returns to the others and is about to lead Leina to help Rom when the injured Drill tells them how the bell spared him. They manage to fix it and ringing it once again disrupts Preacher by bringing back the spirits of the heroic warriors buried in the graveyard. This gives Baikanfu an opening to destroy Preacher with the Lightning Fist attack.

NOTES

Flex and Jim can both drive up vertical walls. Leina actually fights for once and doesn't do badly; Jim hides under a net with Flex though (he does briefly confront Preacher later, it goes not so well). Drill doesn't like snakes or spiders.

A Tank Transer is briefly seen wandering around the countryside while a Falcon Robo and a Zero Robo do fly pasts in plane modes (the latter very, very briefly transforms). A Buggy Robo and someone else (it looks like a Dozer Robo) are among the heroic spirits raised by the bell.

Cronos Tribe Featured: Leina Stol, Rom Stol.

Battle Tribe Featured:
Triple Jim, Rod Drill, Tank Transer (cameo), Buggy Robo (cameo), Dozer (cameo).

Jet Tribe Featured: Blue Jet, Falcon Robo (cameo), Zero Robo (cameo).

Anime Clichés: Jet. Sword. Fight scene. You know this by now.

Errors: Why does Grujios ask who Rom is when he's spent the last 15 episodes trying to kill him? It's so he can do his "You don't even deserve to know my name" shit, isn't it? Leina has a make-up compact because, as usual, Ashi have forgotten the Stol clan are really robots.

REVIEW

A bit silly, though it's nice to see Rom not being quite so cocksure and to see Leina and even Jim pitching in a little bit - some sort of explanation for the former suddenly being able to handle herself in a fight would have been nice, though.

Still very, very predictable however.
