|Code Name: GUNG HO|
I was never really a fan of Gung Ho - he always seemed a bit silly, a bit try-hard. Getting the original figure fairly recently didn't help, really bringing home the campness and Village People feel of the guy.
I got the 25th Anniversary version largely because it was cheap to do so, in a job lot where he came more or less free. The greater freedom in the sculpt at least bulks him up and thus tones down the campness a bit, but it doesn't really make me like the character an awful lot more.
He does come with a very cool grenade launcher than can be 'broken' to allow loading poses (though this does tend to fall apart nine times out of ten), plus a holstered pistol, a backpack and some neat detailing (like the cartridges down the left leg), while the jacket is removable with a little effort. He has the same service tattoo on his chest as the original.
However, I just dislike the basic design, and all the fanciness is for little end product as far as I'm concerned, People who like Gung Ho will no doubt love this largely faultless version, but he still just leaves me cold.
