WARRANT OFFICER
  Code Name: FLINT

Given the Action Force bent of my collecting, Flint was the guy I wanted to get right. For those who don't know, in the British version Flint was field commander of the UK branch, and thus very much the main man of the comic, which was fine by me because he was awesome. He's also the best by far of the team leaders from the cartoon - not as whitebread annoying as Duke, not as old and doddery as Hawk, not as Sgt. Slaughter as Sgt. Slaughter.

So, as I was saying, Flint was someone I wanted to get right. However, I found the first 25th Anniversary figure to be fairly unimpressive, with a bland head cast, some awkward webbing, no gloves (which also resulted in Flint having great big gashes in his wrists) and a near-inability to hold his shotgun in a convincing fashion. It got the basic look just about right, but only if you didn't think about it, or try to pose him.

Thankfully, a retooled version was included in one of the DVD packs. This sorted the head cast, slightly reworked the articulation, added the gloves and sorted the webbing out so it didn't ride up the whole time, and had the added bonus of a reworked crotch so Flint can sit in vintage vehicles. He still can't do a huge amount with the shotgun (itself reworked into a more realistic, smaller piece rather than the large toy-based green example which came with the earlier figure).

All these incremental improvements add up to produce a far superior figure which nicely captures the essence of the character (though I had to tinker slightly and switch the brown backpack with Recondo's green example, something which I personally feel works better for both figures). The result is I've now got a 25th Flint I'm proud of. He's not quite perfect (to be honest, a Flint figure is probably never going to be for someone like me), but he's perfect enough.
