AIRBORNE INFANTRY
  Code Name: COBRA PARATROOPER

Another variation on the Cobra Trooper mould, the Cobra Paratrooper was exclusive to the Best of the 1980s DVD boxed set as a homage to the opening of the 1987 movie. Bizarrely, the Paratrooper is quite easy to find, unlike the similarly-packed Alpine. Grumble, grumble.

The Paratrooper features a new head cast (now with hair), new helmet, a stowed parachute in place of the standard webbing and a sub machine gun instead of a rifle.

The changes aren't entirely successful. The permanently ready parachute is a bit silly if the Paratrooper isn't perpetually ready to leap from that weird flying fortress and down onto the Statue of Liberty. It's also a bugger to get off, having to be removed over the knife mounts on the left thigh. Removing it does result in a passable generic Trooper, though without the standard webbing they're definitely missing something, plus you're only left with a stripped Trooper then anyway. The helmet looks strangely oversized as well, being a design more reminiscent of a German WW2-era type than the one used by regular troopers, meaning the Paratrooper doesn't even line up with other Troopers well.

As a cute variation packed in with the DVD set, the Paratrooper's probably a nice twist on a familiar theme. However, for army building you're better off with the more versatile Air Trooper type, or if money's less of an object, the basic Trooper.
